Comox Valley residents can dispose of yard debris for free this fall through the Yard Debris Drop-Off Program.
The program runs October 1 to November 15, 2026, helping residents dispose of dry, combustible material from around their home — an important step in reducing wildfire risk.
The free service is offered by the Comox Valley FireSmart™ Collaborative in partnership with Vancouver Island Enterprises, with funding provided through the Union of BC Municipalities’ FireSmart Community Funding and Supports program.
Drop-off dates: October 1 to November 15, 2026
Time: Daily, 8 am to 4:30 pm
Location: 1301 Knight Road, Comox
Please note that the drop-off site is across the road from the previous site, and service is weather dependent.
Residents may bring leaves, grass clippings, branches up to three inches in diameter, and plants. Materials can be loose or placed in paper yard-waste bags.
Materials not accepted include food waste, plastic bags, rocks, concrete, root balls, stumps, and invasive plants.

“Removing dry leaves, twigs, and branches from your yard, roof, and gutters is a simple way to reduce the risk of wildfire around your home,” said Comox Fire Rescue Captain Brent Craven. “Every FireSmart step, big or small, can help protect your property and our community.”
The Yard Debris Drop-Off Program will return next spring, from April 1 to June 15, 2027, to support seasonal yard cleanup ahead of wildfire season.
The program is available to residential users only. Commercial operators are not eligible.

The Comox Valley FireSmart™ Collaborative is a multi-agency partnership with the City of Courtenay, Comox Valley Regional District, K'ómoks First Nation, Town of Comox, and Village of Cumberland.
