Help name the Rec bus
Kids’ vote is a fun, non-partisan activity that gives children a chance to participate in their community and learn how voting works.
This year, children can help choose a name for the City of Courtenay’s Rec bus.
When a parent or caregiver takes part in the 2026 City of Courtenay local government election , children can come along and cast a Kids’ vote ballot of their own.
How it works
Step 1: Submit a name idea
Children can submit their ideas at the Lewis Centre starting September 10.
Write your idea on a ballot and place it in the Kids’ vote suggestion box.
Name submissions are open until September 25, 2026.
Step 2: Meet the finalists
City staff will review the submissions and select five finalist names.
Finalist names will be announced September 29, 2026.
The finalists will appear on the Kids’ vote ballot in October.
Step 3: Cast your Kids’ vote
Children can vote for their favourite Rec bus name when attending a voting opportunity with a parent or caregiver.
