Courtenay City Council held its inaugural meeting on November 4, 2026, marking the beginning of a new four-year term.
Mayor Manno Theos and Councillors Rosanna Chamberlin, Evan Jolicoeur, Kelly Matthews, Dick Clancy, Wendy Morin and Thomas McDevitt took their oaths of office. The ceremony included opening remarks from Ramona Johnson of the K'ómoks First Nation and a performance by the Comox Valley Children's Choir.
Council approves committee and board appointments
Council appointed representatives to 10 regional and City boards, commissions and committees at its inaugural meeting, including the Vancouver Island Library Board and two City committees.
These appointments ensure Courtenay is represented in decisions about regional services, including water, sewage, recreation, parks, solid waste management and health care.
