The Scattering Garden at Courtenay Civic Cemetery is a natural, respectful space for placing cremated remains. Whether placed in the garden, a niche or the ground, all remains are treated with the same dignity as traditional casket burials. A permanent record is kept in the cemetery database.
Note: Cremated remains placed in the Scattering Garden cannot be recovered.
Memorial options
Memorial books
The garden includes two granite memorial books where families can place a bronze plaque in memory of a loved one.
- A memorial book can hold one 3 x 4 inch bronze plaque.
- A plaque can be added even if the person is memorialized somewhere else.
Memorial boulders
Natural memorial boulders are environmentally friendly stones.
- Boulders can hold up to two 4 x 6 inch bronze plaques.

Scattering options
