The "Your Courtenay, Your Voice" resident survey is a statistically-valid snapshot of community perception of City of Courtenay services, priorities and issues, along with opinion on the community's overall quality of life, and value for tax dollars.

The surveys will:

  • help shape strategic priorities and budgets
  • highlight key community issues and services
  • assess resident awareness of City programs and services
  • uncover potential service gaps
  • support continuous improvement within the City

The City's survey contractor is PRA Inc.

2025 resident survey

The third year of the resident survey will take place November 3 to 21, 2025. Conducted by telephone with randomly selected Courtenay residents aged 18 and older, the survey helps the City track community priorities, measure changes over time, and guide future decisions about programs, services, and budgets. Results from the 2025 survey are expected to be presented to council near the new year.

2024 resident survey

Researchers randomly dialed Courtenay residents aged 18 and older in November 2024 to help the City assess community needs and track trends over time.

  • 70% perceived good or very good value for their tax dollars
  • Respondents indicated that homelessness (42%) and a lack of affordable (7%), or available (6%) housing were the most important issues facing the City.
