Development Cost Charges Bylaw

This bylaw sets out the Development Cost Charges (DCCs) that apply when land is subdivided or a building permit is issued in Courtenay. These charges help the City fund critical infrastructure required to support new development, including:

  • Roads and transportation
  • Water systems
  • Sanitary sewer systems
  • Storm drainage
  • Park acquisition and development

DCCs are calculated based on land use type (e.g., single-family residential, multi-family, commercial, institutional, etc.) and are collected before subdivision approval or building permit issuance.
