The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) and the City of Courtenay completed a draft comox valley aquatic services strategy to shape the future of public swimming in the region for the next 25 years. The draft strategy was presented to Council at the January 11, 2023 Council meeting.

The City of Courtenay carred out further public engagement to inform the long term plans for the future of the outdoor pool in the summer of 2023. Through this additional engagement, the City identifed five capital investment options as they relate to the outdoor pool. These options are summarized here:
