About the project

The Braidwood Infrastructure Upgrades project will replace aging underground utilities and improve the road to support future growth and development along Braidwood Road. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026. Schedules are still being confirmed.

Why this project is needed

Water, sanitary and storm systems along Braidwood Road are at the end of their service life and can't keep up with demand from a growing community. This project will fully upgrade these systems and improve sections of the road to meet current and future needs.

Construction impacts

There are currently no construction or traffic impacts. Watch here for updates as construction progresses.

Once construction begins in fall 2026, expect:

  • open trenches and heavy equipment for deep excavation and road reconstruction
  • construction noise
  • temporary impacts to on-street parking

Project background

  • Planning for upgrades along Braidwood Road began in 2018, when the City first identified the need for infrastructure improvements.
  • Since then, updated provincial housing legislation and new growth projections in the Official Community Plan (OCP) have identified Braidwood Road as a key growth area.
  • To support this growth, the OCP recommends focusing infrastructure investment on designated growth centres — areas most likely to be developed, with good access to infrastructure and close to everyday needs. This approach helps prevent urban sprawl.
  • Braidwood is a high-density area that helps meet the city's need for more diverse housing options beyond single-detached homes.
