The Children and Youth Programming Supervisor is responsible the marketing, planning, development, and implementation of recreation programming for children and youth ages 6-18 years. Assists in identifying community recreation needs and developing children and youth, programming; facilitates the planning, development and implementation of recreation programs, activities and special events for children and youth. Facilitates the Volunteer program, and directly leads programs as required; Prepares marketing materials, develops and maintains positive relations with community groups and partners; Supervises program instructors, contractors, summer coordinator, day camp staff, and volunteers; Assists in preparing and maintaining budgets. Supports other programming areas as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

·         Diploma or Degree in Recreation, or Community Development from a recognized educational institution, or equivalent education and experience

·         Valid Class 4 Driver’s License

·         Current Criminal Record Clearance

·         Current First Aid Emergency Level-Industry and CPR Level A & C

·         Considerable (5 years) experience in the development and delivery of community recreational programming, preferably with children and youth.

·         Some supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Sound knowledge in designing program content, special events and activities for children and youth and knowledge of community recreation principles, practices and objectives including safe and proper use of equipment and facilities.
  • Considerable knowledge of community development and recreation services for children and youth.
  • Sound knowledge of child and youth development principles as it relates to recreation programming and services.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, time-management, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Good computer skills, experience with Active Net Recreation software an asset.
  • Leadership skills and ability to provide and promote positive values and recreational social benefits.
  • Ability to work variety of shifts, including days, afternoon, evenings, weekday and weekends as required for operational requirements.
  • Ability to provide proof of physical ability to frequently lift heavy objects such as tables and equipment.

  • High Five certification
  • Food Safe Certificate

The current (2024) hourly wage rate is $37.09.  This is a full-time position; start date to be determined.  Shifts may range from Monday to Sunday.
