Affordable and non-market housing projects

1679 McPhee Avenue - Naut'sa mawt

Completed in 2025, Naut'sa mawt is a five-storey rental apartment building with 40 homes prioritized for Indigenous people. The building includes studio and one-bedroom units, with rents ranging from $500 to approximately $1,300 per month.

The building was designed to support people with diverse needs. Nearly 80 per cent of the homes are accessible or adaptable.

This non-market housing project was developed through a partnership between the Wachiay Friendship Centre Society and senior and local governments.

For its part, the City waived approximately $89,000 in development cost charges.

1375 Piercy Avenue - Wilks Place

Completed in late 2023, Wilks Place is 12 affordable townhomes, including two fully accessible homes.

Developed by Habitat for Humanity - Comox Valley, the project operates as a non-market affordable homeownership program. Mortgage payments are tied to household income, and whereby Habitat for Humanity has the option to buy back a home when the owner decides to sell. This allows the home to remain affordable for future households.

For its part, the City contributed approximately $211,000 toward off-site works and frontage improvements.

1560 Grieve Avenue - The Anchorage

Currently under construction, The Anchorage is a 16-home mini village that will create independent and community living for people with developmental disabilities.

Owned and operated by L'ARCHE Comox Valley, the site will include:
•    15 homes with deeply affordable rental rates
