Courtenay City Council will consider authorizing a new lease for the Connect Temporary Shelter and Service Hub, and approximately 5,800 square feet of the adjacent parking lot.
The new lease has a termination date of October 31, 2027, and replaces the current lease, with its termination date of October 31, 2025.

Subject properties: 685 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, B.C., and a portion of the adjacent parking lot at 645 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, B.C.
Proposed monthly lease rate for subject properties: $2,000.
The lease will begin on November 1, 2025, and will include the subject properties in the leased area for 24 months, plus an option to renew on a month-to-month basis after October 31, 2027 (subject to council approval).
The total market value of the two-year lease is $119,712. The proposed lease value of the two-year lease is $48,000. Therefore, the value of assistance by the City to CVTS is approximately $71,712 for the proposed two-year term. If the lease continues on a month-to-month basis after October 31, 2027, the value of the assistance will be $3,253 per month.
