Recreation, Culture and Community Services

We provide safe, inclusive and accessible recreation, cultural and community programs for all ages and abilities.

Our work includes:

  • Facility operations: Managing and maintaining recreation facilities.
  • Programming: Planning and delivering programs, activities and events.
  • Business services: Supporting registration, administration and customer service.
  • Community services: Connecting residents with resources and supporting community initiatives.

We also:

  • Work with local cultural organizations, including the Courtenay Recreation Association (CRA) and the Evergreen Club.
  • Manage bookings for parks, sports field and facilities.
  • Plan for the future of parks, recreation, culture, and community services in Courtenay.

Courtenay Recreation offers a variety of programs and services for the community. Our facilities include:

  • Florence Filberg Centre
  • Lewis Centre (including the Wellness Centre)
  • Native Sons Hall
  • The LINC Youth Centre and Skatepark
  • Parks buildings

We offer:

  • Programs and activities for all ages and interests
  • Event rentals for gatherings of any size
  • Special events
  • Wellness Centre with modern fitness equipment and extended hours

We work with the City’s cultural facilities, including:

  • Sid Williams Theatre
