The City of Courtenay invites applications for the position of "Wellness Centre Attendant”.
Provide instructions for the safe use of equipment in the Wellness Centre. Ensure safety standards and code of conduct are maintained while fostering a welcoming environment for all users. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining Wellness Centre equipment. The successful candidate will be required to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings and weekends (shifts are 2 hrs. or more).
Minimum Requirements
- Completion of grade 11 or equivalent
- First Aid/CPR C
- Criminal Record Check
- Certifications relevant to the position and in accordance with industry standards (e.g. BCRPA, Canfit-Pro, CSEP, ISSA etc.)
- Experience in customer service, recreation, human/social services or in a leadership role is preferred. This position involves working with the public (ages 13+) and requires the ability to work independently in the weight room.
- At least 3 months experience in a similar environment.
- Knowledge of safety standards in a weight room
- Knowledge of weight room equipment
- Ability to lead weight room orientation programs
- Proven ability to handle challenging situations constructively
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions accurately
- Willingness to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks
The current hourly wage is $20.00 - $27.00 + 12.4% in lieu. This is an entry level position with opportunities for growth. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. Hours and shifts are subject to change.
