Courtenay parks come alive this summer
This July and August, neighbourhood parks across Courtenay will transform into vibrant community gathering spaces filled with free activities, music, games, creativity and connection. Bring a lawn chair, bring a friend or just drop by and see what’s happening in your neighbourhood.

Lewis Park Concession

July 6–12: McPhee Meadows
Start your summer nature adventure at McPhee Meadows, a peaceful riverside park with a gravel loop trail through restored meadow habitat and historic orchard landscape.
Try this while you're there
Bring binoculars and count how many bird species you can spot. Share a photo on Facebook or Instagram and tag City of Courtenay for a chance to win a Courtenay Recreation Gift Card.

The Courtenay Fire Department will be bringing a fire truck to select Parks Alive events. Families can take part in firefighter games and connect with firefighters to learn about FireSmart, wildfire preparedness, and ways to reduce wildfire risk around their homes.

About the artist: Oktiv6 & Funkyard are a Comox Valley-based group known for their energetic funk sound and popular festival appearances around Vancouver Island. Their music blends funk, soul, R&B and hip-hop influences while celebrating local Island culture.
Polsen Moose is a dynamic rock band hailing from Denman Island, BC, made up of musicians aged 12 to 17. Armed with guitars, bass, drums, keys, and brass, the band brings a full, versatile sound to original songs and covers spanning rock's many eras. What makes Polsen Moose special is their multi-instrumental chops — these kids don't just play their parts, they own the stage. Don't miss this island favourite!
The Out Seer is a Vancouver alt-rock band known for female vocal harmonies and original songs. They’ve toured the Okanagan twice, played BC festivals, and released their debut album Changes in 2025.
Anna McCarthy is a Vancouver Island author who writes picture books inspired by her love of music, language and nature. Originally from London, UK, she has lived in several countries around the world and brings those diverse experiences into stories that encourage curiosity, imagination and connection.
