The City of Courtenay invites applications for the position of "Personal Trainer (1 or 2).

Personal Trainers design and deliver safe, effective, and personalized workouts within their scope of work, supporting clients in achieving their individual fitness goals.

Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12 or equivalent 
  • Relevant certifications in accordance with industry standards (e.g. BCRPA, CanFit-Pro, ACE, NASM etc.).
  • OR a current membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g. BCAK, CATA, NSCA et.).
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
  • Criminal Records Check with vulnerable sector
  • At least 3 months experience in a fitness environment (those with 5 years of continuous experience in a similar position will be considered for the Personal Trainer 2 role).
  • Experience in customer service, recreation, human/social services or in a leadership role is preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Solid knowledge of fitness and strength equipment
  • Physical abilities to lift and carry equipment up to 45lbs
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills

The current hourly wage ranges from $30.00 to $33.00 (depending on experience) + an additional 12.4% in lieu.  Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. Hours and shifts are subject to change.
