Planning and land use
The Planning Division manages development applications, including rezoning, permits (development, variance, Board of Variance, tree and sign), and boundary extensions, while ensuring bylaws and policies stay up to date.
March 2025: The City of Courtenay is updating its form and character design guidelines to support small-scale, multi unit housing (SSMUH), making it easier to build new homes while keeping our neighbourhoods vibrant.
