It’s a dogs’ day at the Courtenay Outdoor Pool! On Saturday, August 30, Courtenay Recreation will host its annual end-of-season dog swim — the one day each year when the pool is open to canine swimmers before closing for the season.
“Pooch-a-Poolooza is one of the most joyful days of our season,” said Ryan Coltura, Assistant Manager of Recreation Facility Operations. “I love ending summer with a pool full of happy pups. It’s so much fun for the dogs, their people and everyone watching.”
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the 30-metre pool will be open for dogs of all sizes to splash, paddle and play. Admission is $5 per dog, with all proceeds donated to the local SPCA. Proof of rabies vaccination is required, so please bring documentation with you. For everyone’s safety, dogs must be friendly and well-behaved, and only dogs are allowed in the pool during the event. The wading pool will remain closed for maintenance.
Van Isle Veterinary Hospital staff will be on site to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, and Woofy’s Pet Foods will also be there with pet-friendly giveaways.
